These Terms of Service govern your use of Xplore Austin. By using the app, you agree to these terms.

1. Eligibility
Xplore Austin is designed for the UT Austin community. To use this app, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be a current or former UT Austin student, faculty member, or affiliate (for full account access)
- Provide a valid @utexas.edu email address for student account verification
Guest access is available for browsing without an account, but certain features (messaging, reviews, social features) require a verified account.
2. Your Account
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your account credentials secure
- All activity that occurs under your account
- Ensuring your profile information is accurate and not misleading
- Notifying us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account
You may not create multiple accounts, use another person's account, or transfer your account to someone else.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Xplore Austin to:
- Harass or bully other users, including through messages, reviews, or channels
- Post spam or unsolicited promotional content
- Write fake or misleading reviews for businesses you have not visited
- Impersonate another person, business, or entity
- Share harmful content including threats, hate speech, sexually explicit material, or content promoting violence
- Attempt to circumvent content filters, security measures, or moderation systems
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the service
- Share personal contact information (phone numbers, external URLs, email addresses) in public content such as reviews
4. User Content
When you post content on Xplore Austin (reviews, photos, messages, profile information), you:
- Retain ownership of your content
- Grant Xplore Austin a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and use your content within the app
- Confirm that your content does not violate any third-party rights (copyright, trademark, privacy)
- Understand that public content (reviews, profile info) may be visible to other users
You can delete your content at any time. When you delete your account, all associated content is permanently removed.
5. Content Moderation
To maintain a safe and respectful community, we:
- Use automated content filters to detect prohibited content
- Allow users to report content and other users
- Review reported content and take appropriate action
- Reserve the right to remove any content that violates these terms
You can block other users at any time. Blocked users cannot message you or see your profile.
6. Business Accounts
If you claim or create a business listing on Xplore Austin:
- You must be an authorized representative of that business
- Business information (name, address, hours, contact details) must be accurate
- You may not manipulate reviews, ratings, or other user-generated content about your business
- Business claims are subject to review and approval
7. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
Xplore Austin is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee:
- The accuracy or completeness of business information, hours, or reviews
- Uninterrupted or error-free operation of the app
- The quality, safety, or legality of businesses listed on the platform
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Xplore Austin and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.
User-generated content (reviews, messages) reflects the opinions of individual users, not of Xplore Austin.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you:
- Violate these Terms of Service
- Engage in behavior that harms other users or the community
- Use the app in a way that could damage or impair the service
You may deactivate or delete your account at any time through the app settings. Account deletion is permanent and removes all associated data.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will:
- Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
- Notify you through the app or via email for material changes
Continued use of Xplore Austin after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
